Smitten

Two weeks ago I showed you a picture of a gorgeous vintage crocheted blanket in Lisbon. (The pink blanket with the popcorn stitches; this link will bring you to that post...)

I also promised that I would figure the pattern out. So that's what I did! I hereby proudly present my lapsized sample blanket. I call it my Smitten Blanket. Because that's what I am with this lovely vintage pattern. (I'm planning to make a fullsized blanket with this pattern!)

It was such a lovely project. At the moment I'm finalizing the pattern (both as a chart and in words) and I will publish it here within a couple of days.

Before I conclude this post I'd like to say a big Thank You to Vanessa from Coco Rose Diaries for the blog love. Her distinctive crochet and styling skills are simply amazing and she is a huge inspiration to me. Her post also made me realise I've got some work to do: Update my blogroll... It's been added to my todo-list. ;-)

Well... That's all for today. Do check back here if you are interested in the pattern for the Smitten Blanket. By the way, I've also got a pattern lined up that should bring a bit of spring in our houses. Because I definitely need that during these grey days...

Many thanks for your kind visit.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I wish you a happy week!

  3. It's beautiful, really unique! The wool looks soft and light...I wanted to ask you if when you made your giant granny blanket, did you alternate sides for each round? did you find you needed to, or did it balance itself out? if you understand what I mean! Thanks X

    1. Hello there Heather! Thanks and yes, I know what you mean. ;-) Actually, I just did every round in the same direction and somehow it worked out fine. - So there's no diamond (read: wonky square) sitting in the middle of the bigger square, if you know what I mean. ;-)

  7. Completely and utterly smitten too.
I will drop all my projects the moment you publish this pattern and send my husband away for some weeks so I will have my hands free to make my own Smitten. ;) And you look just picture perfect sitting on your XXL granny blanket.
You really should make the book!

    1. Hahaha, the thought of your husband being send away makes me wonder if I should postpone publishing the pattern. ;-))

Hope you have settled in nicely in Berlin? Quite a change from Ireland!

  15. Hoi Haafner,

      Fijn weekeinde alvast!

  17. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! Look forward to the pattern! Do you think this blanket would eat a lot of wool? it looks like it would..... I think that in that colour on a wooden bed with white linen would look stunning! Thanks so much for sharing! Pati x

    1. Wow, thanks for your kind words! I guess it does eat relatively a lot of yarn, because of the popcorns. I used (roughly estimated) about 120 mtrs per square. I made extra-big popcorn! ;-) I will write more about that in the pattern tomorrow, but pls don't hesitate to contact me in case you have further questions about it! And yes, I agree, it would match nicely with a wooden bed + white linen. :-) xh
